Today started out beautifully! Mandy opened the window for Elway and I and it was glorious outside. We sat out in the sun and felt the heat warm our fur. We came in the house around lunch time and all of a sudden it started pouring! Mandy could not close the window in the kitchen before a huge puddle had formed. It has been hours since lunch time and I have napped, I sang while Mandy played the noise maker, and it is still raining! It is very dark outside, and Mandy is checking the weather. I guess there is a huge storm coming because there is a huge green mass on the radar.
Well, I am going to go check on Elway—he is hiding somewhere.

Long Lonely Week
We were left alone for Thanksgiving and it was very lonely. A nice lady came to take care of us each day Mandy and Sam were gone, and she was very nice to feed us turkey on Thanksgiving, but it was very lonely without my people. When they came home Saturday, Peyton and I let Mandy know we were a little upset at being left alone by ignoring her for a little while, but it didn’t last long. She fed us a big breakfast—although it was hours later—and it was tasty! When Mandy and Sam snuggled in on the couch, I joined them and cuddled with them for a long time. Peyton eventually joined us, and we spent the evening together as a family.
Both Peyton and I snuggled on the bed while Mandy and Sam slept, and we let them sleep late. We spent all day with them, and we even slept on the cat couch together so we could be close to Mandy and Sam. It’s a little cold, so we don’t mind snuggling together, plus it helps us both be close to our people.
I am enjoying snuggling with Mandy this morning. It’s early, and she hasn’t been easy to snuggle with because she’s been busy doing laundry and cleaning house but now she’s drinking her morning coffee, and I am snuggled up to her.
I’m hoping it warms up a little today so we can go outside to play. Yesterday it was a little cool, and I’m thankful for the extra blankets Mandy has pulled out because they are warm to cuddle.
Well, I am going to go. I think Mandy is ready to jump up again, and I need to follow her so I’m not alone.

Thanksgiving Week
Mandy says I should count my blessings this week, since it’s supposed to be some sort of fancy holiday. All I remember from last year is it meant a lot of food, and crazy schedules for my people. But anyway, here goes my list of things I’m pleased with. I’m thankful for:
1. Turkey to eat
2. Fresh cat nip that Mandy brought home this weekend
3. Open Windows
4. Crunchies
5. A warm bed to sleep on
6. Music
7. Belly rubs
8. Nap time
9. Red Lightening Bug
10. Days without Vacuum
I could list more, but that pretty much sums up my life.
This weekend was wonderful. Yesterday Mandy and Sam came home from their Sunday Morning activities and opened the windows for us, and then they left again. It is rare that we are left alone with the windows open and it was great fun. When they came home, Red Lightening Bug came out to play. I am concerned about Bug’s health though. He is very light now, and he flickers. If the lights are too bright, we can’t see him. Mandy says he will get better soon, but I am concerned that he is so weak.
Well, I am going to go play outside because there are open windows this morning!

Mail Call!
Mail is a wonderful tradition! Not only are we amused by the white truck that stops by the house almost every day to put mail in the black box, but sometimes the lady in the white truck brings us a box! This week the lady dropped off a really big box from Mom-With-Cool-Toys and Shrimp Dad. Evidently, Mandy and Sam left stuff at their house when they went there a while ago, so they had to send our forgetful people their stuff back. I don’t know why Mom WCT didn’t bring the stuff over. I haven’t seen her in a long time. And I bet if Shrimp Dad was here Mandy would fix shrimp. I love shrimp. Anyway, I do love boxes, so I am glad they at least sent me a box.
The box smells so strange. I have spent many hours smelling the box. It is so big though that Peyton and I can both fit in it. However, I like to chase him away from my box and claim it as my own.

Mom WCT and Shrimp Dad sent us a card too! Mandy put our card in the box along with one of our mice and we have spent hours playing in the box. It has brought us much joy to have a large box in the house. What fun!
Uh-Oh! I have spent too much time away from my box and Peyton is eyeing it again. I better go rescue my box from the hands of my brother.

Peyton’s Penance
It’s nice to not be the bad cat for once. Last night Peyton crawled into the noise maker and was trying to play with the strings inside. Oh boy was Mandy angry! She chased him into the bedroom and tried to slide under the bed with him, unfortunately, her knee tried to take out the side of the bed and she didn’t slide the way she sometimes can. Peyton was in trouble, not only for being inside the noise maker, but for hiding. So, Mandy ignored him! I mean, she has been brutal. She even stepped over him this morning like he wasn’t even there. Peyton doesn’t want to apologize to Mandy, but he hates to be ignored so he is offering up penance instead of an apology. I’m not sure if Mandy will accept this trade.
As part of his penance, Peyton hunted down a nasty wasp that had flown in the house and made sure Mandy noticed it. Poor Peyton had to guard this wasp for a long time because Mandy was totally ignoring him. Eventually, she did notice his strange behavior, and she took care of the wasp. I’m not sure Peyton and Mandy have made up yet; I’m not sure if he will apologize, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. But in the mean time, I’m able to hide in the forbidden window, because Mandy is busying ignoring Peyton.
This last week was very busy. Opa and Elly stayed all week with us. I was never able to steal Elly’s yarn. She guarded it closely, even when she was sleeping. She liked to sleep outside in the afternoon. She would stretch out in the sun and nap, just like me. I often napped near Elly. I tried to sleep lightly so I could protect her from anything that might bother her. Peyton eventually warmed up to our guests, which was a bummer because Opa was very fair in handing out food, so I was unable to steal Peyton’s food from him. Opa liked to feed us. When he would eat, I’d sit in the kitchen near him and wait. He always gave me a bite. He even let me lick out his ice cream bowl!
Well, I am going to go sit in the window while I have a chance.

Blanket Time!
It’s cold. That’s the only way to sum it up. It’s just down right chilly. Mandy laughs at us and tells us we are wimpy. But it is so chilly, that both Peyton and I are sleeping on the bed at night to keep off the cold floor. We are also looking for new places to nap. Yesterday Mandy found me curled up on the bed under the blankets, so she brought out my orange blanket for me and put it on the bed. Both Peyton and I curled up in the blanket to stay warm.
Peyton is completely buried under the blanket, but I only snuggled half way in. We are so busy trying to stay warm, that we haven’t even noticed the visitors. We already know them anyway. Opa and Elly arrived before the weekend started. I had forgotten, but Elly plays with yarn. It looks like she has a lot of fun with it, but she won’t share her yarn. She keeps it in a big bag next to her feet and pulls it into her lap with a little metal stick. I don’t know what she is doing, but she’s making something. I was able to steal one of her balls of yarn but she noticed before I got out of the room with it. I guess next time I will try and pick a ball she is not already playing with, maybe I would be able to get out of the room with it.
Opa is really nice. He feeds me big bites of food! Sometimes his bites are so big that Sam or Mandy has to cut them up for me! Opa is much more generous with his food than Mandy and Sam. He also has big hands that scratch me in all the right places at once! He is very friendly to me. Peyton just sits and watches from the other room, but he does like to watch Elly sleep on the couch. He will sneak into the room and try and smell her. One time when he was really close to Elly, she breathed deep and Peyton ran and hide. He is such a fraidy cat!
Red Lightening Bug is out and playful today, so I am going to try and catch him.

Rain, Cold, Wind!
This week has been extraordinarily strange. The weather pattern has disrupted my daily schedules, and I am ready for the warm summer weather to return. First of all, it rained. I woke up the other morning, and it was beautiful. Mandy opened all of the windows, and I went outside to play. It was cloudy, but I did not expect the sky to open up and pour down water on me! I ran into the house and hid under the bed until I dried off. I assumed Mandy would close the windows, but she did not. Elway and I took turns sitting in the open windows, waiting for the rain to stop.
Well, we waited all day, and all night and part of the next day before it stopped raining. And by the time it had stopped raining, Mandy had closed the windows. We begged her to open them, so she opened them a few inches saying it was too wet for us to play outside.
I waited until Mandy was preoccupied and tried to crawl through the window. It was less than successful. Well, even though it was sunny outside, it was rather cool. And last night it was just plain cold. Elway and I both slept on the bed with Mandy and Sam in order to stay warm. We have not asked Mandy to go outside this morning. Perhaps it will warm up and we can play this afternoon.
Well, I am going to go chase Elway through the house to keep him warm!

Foolish Feline!
My brother is in deep Trouble—with a capital T. You will not be able to believe his ridiculous behavior! Mandy stepped outside to water her plants and when she turned around, she caught Elway at the fish pond. I am sure you all know Rule Number Three for outside behavior by now, but if you need reminding it is “No Fishing.” Now Elway was not just fishing, his face was clear in the water whiskers and all! Oh, Mandy was furious! She marched over and picked up Elway and set him in the big tub. However, since this is the third offence in less than two weeks time, Elway was picked up and set in the big tub as soon as he got out. He was returned to the big tub three times, and on the last time, he just sat down on the steps. The crazy cat did not get out of the big tub! He just sat in the water and enjoyed it! He was purring! He just sat there cleaning his front paws! Mandy was shocked! Not only did Elway break Rule Number Three, he mocked her punishment! She went storming inside mumbling about bad cats, and marched into our litter box room, only to discover that litter was thrown all over the floor and strung clear into the bedroom. Now Mandy was irate. She cleaned up our mess—which I will blame Elway for today—and returned to the kitchen for another cup of coffee.
Elway is sitting outside next to the big tub. He says the water was pleasant! In fact, he is sniffing at the big tub right now and sticking his front paw in on his own accord! What a crazy cat!
Well, I think I better try and make up with Mandy for the both of us! She bought us new food for dinner, and I cannot wait for dinner time!

Ghost, Goblins, and Fairies—OH MY!
Last night, Peyton and I were playing outside, minding our own business, when the door bell rings. I think door bell must have been broken because I have not heard it in a long time, but last night made up for door bell’s hiatus. Peyton and I hid because it kept ringing, and outside there were tiny people laughing and screaming, and running all over the place! Mandy bounced up and ran through the house every time door bell rang and handed out candy. I really thought there were half-sized humans or smaller outside, but at the door there were ghosts, goblins, fairies, and half-sized human bugs! I have no idea why Mandy would give candy to these strange creatures---or why the candy made them leave. However, since the front door was open so long giving candy to these crazy creatures, Peyton and I were on bug patrol once things calmed down. I must have single handedly caught and killed a few mosquitoes! Mandy watched for lizards so I don’t think any of those slippery critters crawled in our front door, but Peyton has been checking anyway. I was so glad when things calmed down last night, but the bug hunting was enjoyable and I Mandy even gave us treats for our successful hunt!
This weekend was great! The windows were open and we had so much fun outside! Sam worked on changing lights outside, so our house can light up at night! He was funny to watch because he would run around the house looking at the lights! I tried to race along with him inside, and Mandy laughed at me! She told me to go outside to help, but I was happy to watch from the inside because Mandy was doing strange things inside too. I think Sam and Mandy are getting ready for more company, because they did some company cleaning. I wonder who will come this time.
Well, it is beautiful outside, so I am going to go play.
