Gardening

It’s official! I’m Mandy's helper! And I even assist Mandy when she works outside. Yesterday she went outside and tore apart the bushes that are next to the Man-Eating-Room and under my front-of-the-house window. Then Sam came home and started digging. I watched and watched, until Mandy came inside…for ME! She put me in harness and took me outside. I got to play in the dirt and chase bugs. Then Mandy took me to the side of the house to pull plants out of the ground. On the way over, we meet the most unfriendly creature. I don’t know what it was, but it was huge and it barked. I think Mandy said it was a dog, but most dogs I’ve meet don’t act like that. That thing was so rude. As soon as it saw me, it barked and tried to come get me. I was brave. He did not scare me. Mandy picked me up to keep me safe. I knew she would. I just don’t understand why that beast was so rude. I mean, all I said was hello! Then Mandy let me play outside. I got to go to places I have never been. It was a lot of fun! I was a little nervous to come back to the front of the house, but Mandy would call Sam and he would talk to us. I followed his voice all the way home!

This morning, we woke Mandy and Sam up, hoping they would let us outside to play with Mr. Turtle, but he was a no-show. We missed him. I hope he comes back soon. If you see Mr. Turtle, tell him to come back and play with us! We still need help scaring the evil rabbits off.

Well, I’m off to sneak up on Peyton while he is sleeping.

Crazy Creature

I was going to blog about our first year with Mandy and Sam but I have much more fun stuff to tell you about!

First of all, Elway did not mention his first swim in the big tub. Yesterday, Mandy caught him fishing…AGAIN! She has told him several times before, no fishing. So she picked him up and set him in the big tub! HAHAHAH! Meow! It was super funny and Elway was ticked! But mind you, he hasn’t even looked at the fish since then. He was so mad at Mandy he refused to come in and dry off. Good thing it was warm yesterday and he sat in the sun. If I was Mandy I would have just tossed him in that big tub, but she very carefully set him in. I would have made him swim more. She was very nice about it, but she told him that was what playing in the water was like. I don’t think he’ll fish again. Meow meow!

Then this morning, that crazy turtle was back! I like him, and have named him Mr. Turtle. We talked for a long time this morning, and he came clear up to the screen and we shared secrets on how to rid our yard of the evil rabbit. So, far I believe this inside information will help. He told us there are two rabbits! TWO of those evil creatures are still in my yard. We will rid our yard of those villains. You can see the turtle in the picture, you just have to look closely. He is in the bottom of the right hand cornoer, both Elway and I are looking at him.

After talking with Mr. Turtle, I started looking for a way to get out of the screen so Elway and I can show those vile rabbits how sharp our claws are, and how fierce we are when we pounces. I started trying to dig out under the screen.

But once I started digging, I realized that the bushes make a much better place to sleep.

So, maybe we will just show the rabbits through the screen that we mean business and that this is our yard!

Well, I’m off to sleep in the bushes again.

Happy Anniversary!

This morning we saw the most amazing creature! He moved very slow and he had this huge shell on his back! He pulled his head into the shell and then stuck it out again! He was such a funny little creature, that I am sure he meant no harm!

We talked to him for a long time since he was so slow! He just took his merry old time strolling across our yard.

We asked him if he had seen the evil rabbit around and all he said was “Slow and Steady Wins the Race.” I have no idea what that means, but evidently he also is in competition with the evil rabbit. I believe that he will win, mainly because he wasn’t evil, like the rabbit.

Today is a very important day in our lives! We have lived with Mandy and Sam for one year as of today! It has been a very exciting year full of changes. We have grown so much this year you wouldn’t believe it!

Look at how cute we are in our bed right after Mandy and Sam brought us home!

We were so tiny!

And we grew and grew!

Now we can’t fit in the bed together. Peyton is such a bed hog!
Well, I could go on and on about our first year, but these pictures will show you how much we have grown! I could talk about all of our firsts (our first bath, our first hide-out, our first game, hiding in the bed, our first Christmas, the move) but I think Peyton wants to mentions some things tomorrow. Overall, I’m so glad Sam and Mandy brought us home. They have given us a good home, and we like it here.

Really Forgotten!

Mandy cleaned out the bathroom yesterday so she must be getting close to done up there. But while she was cleaning out up there, I ran into the bedroom and hid. Then Mandy left and closed the door behind her! I was trapped! It was not very long, just long enough for my afternoon nap, but I did a good job making Mandy feel really guilty when she realized she had locked me upstairs. Haha. She felt so bad, that she opened the windows and let us play outside. It was wonderful to go outside again. Elway has yet to learn that he cannot fish, so Mandy watched us closely. So, all in all, I hope I can find ways to get locked in rooms so I can guilt trip Mandy again today. However, it is raining really hard. I know when it is raining hard because I can hear the rain on the roof. It is loud today, so it is raining really hard. But maybe it will clear up and I can play outside later.

Forgotten

Mandy received a package today and it smelled of Mom-With-Cool-Toys. While Mandy was pleased with the contents of the box, I was not. I examined the box for over an hour and I did not find a single toy in that box. It seems that Mom-With-Cool-Toys only sent Mandy stuff. It’s ok really, because Mandy let me play with the box. I love boxes. They are a lot of fun to play in! And Mandy left the box out for me to play with! I even chose to play with the box over my springy toy! That’s how fun boxes are. This box is short and wide so I have to slither in and out.

Other news today, I haven’t been outside. I was a bad cat, and I don’t know if Mandy will ever let me out again. Peyton has been out, but not me. I was fishing. I am sorry, but Mandy doesn’t care. She says I have to stay in until I promise not to fish anymore. I’m not sure I can make that promise and keep it. She knows that, so I can’t even lie. Eventually she will let me out again, of that I am hopeful!

Well, that’s all for now. I’m off to slither into the box!

Torture!

You would not believe what Mandy is forcing me to do, even as I type this note. I am sitting in her lap, and she is snuggling all of the warmth out of me. Keep your hands off of me! I’m not a heating blanket; I am a cat! Meow! She is snuggling me and scratching my head. Even Sam is in on this torture. Sometimes it feels really nice, but I try to keep any look of pleasure off of my face so Mandy can only see anger and frustration. Well, I think that I might give into this unpleasant time of snuggling and take a quick nap--maybe than it will be over sooner than I can hope.

Evil Vacuum

I have not had many reasons to discuss my loathing toward Vacuum, but yesterday he came out and trapped me in the kitchen. Normally Mandy will give me a heads up and allow time to hide, but I think Vacuum took Mandy by surprise because there was no warning! Than vacuum tried to eat my ball! My pretty pink ball with a bell in it was mashed in half. Thankfully, Sam came home and interrupted Vacuums reign of destruction. However, I was so frightened that I crouched in the kitchen until I was certain Vacuum was not going to try and eat me! The unfortunate part of this story is that Mandy did not I was hiding in the kitchen, and she came in with her arms full and tripped over me. It hurt my tummy and Mandy hit the countertop. Now she has a nice blue spot on her arm.

Last night Sam and Mandy opened the windows and let us play outside! It was awesome! The nighttime critters flew all over the place and we raced back and forth keeping them away. Then Sam brought us back in and Mandy clipped our toe nails. I don’t like it, but we always get treats, and those are yummy. Mandy cuddles us and tells us we are handsome. It really isn’t that bad, but I would never admit that to Mandy.

Well, the window is open and I’m heading back out to chase Peyton some. Time to even the playing field! I will demonstrate to the evil rabbit, that I am so tough even my brother is afraid of me.

Rainy Morning

It rained all morning. Mandy did not open the window for us to play outside. I was sad. After it stopped raining, Mandy went outside and talked on the small talking device for a long time. But she did not let us outside with her, and we paced the house trying to make her notice our plea to come out too. She refused our plea. So Peyton and I plotted against her. I knew she thought I would to try and sneak out when she opened the door…I do it often…so I knew I had to be fast. And I was! I was like a blot of lighting! Wahoo! Meow me! I made it outside in record time. So, she let us play outside for a while, but it was sticky, so we didn’t stay long and when we came in, she closed up the house. But that’s ok, because at least our plot was a success and maybe next time Mandy will know not to deny our plea.

Open House!

Mandy must be in a good mood because she keeps the windows open almost all the time! It is wonderful! I love playing inside and outside. Mandy was even upstairs slopping goop on the walls, and I stayed downstairs to play outside. It is more fun to be outside than upstairs. I can hide in the bushes, play with bugs, and chase the rabbit. And I can go inside and outside as much or as little as I want.

Mandy tried to take my picture while I was playing outside. I let her snap a few, but then I hid under the furniture and told her I did not want her to take my picture. She might catch a snapshot of my being cute or something. I am a tough cat, not a model.

The windows in this place are really weird. Sometimes Mandy only leaves the windows with blocks on them open. I can feel the outside air but I can’t get out there.

I’m not sure I like those blocks. But I guess it is better than the hard glass that blocks all the outside air. When Mandy wants me to come in, I gladly go in, just so she knows I like my time outside.
My favorite part of the open windows is being able to run around in circles. I can leap out of the window in the bedroom, and race through the outdoor patio, torpedo through the family room window and race under the noise maker into the bedroom and out the window again! I can do it over and over again! Sometimes I chase Elway around. It’s a blast! Well, I’m off to play outside again. It is wonderful out there! I love it.

Homework

Normally I hate when Mandy works. She gets dressed to go and leaves. I don’t like when she leaves. But lately she has been speaking of work, and she is at home. Well you must by now that Mandy can’t do anything without me. So I have been helping her work. It looks fairly simple because it’s all done on the computer. So yesterday, Mandy worked all afternoon. She curled up under the blanket and I curled up with her. I sat with her all afternoon. She would reach over and scratch my tummy, and I purred for her the whole time. She said it was like music and that I was a huge help. It was very fun to cuddle with Mandy and help her work. Maybe work isn’t such a bad thing after all.

You may wonder where Peyton has been. Well, once it turned cooler, he has hid in the closet under the clothes and slept. I think he is cold too. But he is too stubborn to come out and cuddle with Mandy. He is being rather snobby about this cooler weather. But I can feel the weather changing, and I don’t think it will stay cool for long. I think it will warm up this week!

Well, Mandy wants to start working, so I have to go. She needs me to cuddle her some more and she needs her computer.

Peaceful Afternoon

Today was cold -- so cold that Mandy got out a blanket and a book. She snuggled up on the couch and had a very peaceful afternoon. She was so snuggled in that I sometimes thought she was asleep. I love this type of weather. It makes me feel snuggly too. So I curled into my favorite place to sleep, at the excess blanket at Mandy’s feet. I like to sleep there because I can keep Mandy’s feet warm.
Sam eventually joined Mandy on the couch, but he actually accomplished stuff today rather than lazily resting on the couch. But I was glad he stayed busy because I had Mandy all to myself. When he joined Mandy I stayed a little while, but not long.

Well, there is something outside the window. I’m off to check it out!

Awesome day!

It is beautifully cool outside…almost cold for Florida, or at least that’s what Mandy says. Today was great! Mandy and Sam opened up almost all of the windows and we jumped inside and then outside all over the house! It was super fun! Sam crawled up on the top of the house and did really loud things up there. But now when you look up you don’t see so much stuff hanging down. And Mandy sprayed stuff on the window at me and wiped it down. It was pretty weird. She could spray stuff at me when I was in the house, and I never felt anything. She also cleaned up our food and littler mess again. It’s nice to have it clean. Mandy says we mess it up faster than she cleans it--which sadly, is probably true. But that’s not my fault. Peyton is such a slob. Well, it is getting kind of late and I think Mandy and Sam should go to bed, so I’m off to tell them to get to bed!

Cat Hits Ceiling!

This is pretty funny! This morning Mandy was talking on that little device that voices come out of. She must have turned up the volume or something because the voice coming out of that little thing was really loud. Then that funny little machine started calling Peyton’s name. HAHA! The cat went ballistic. He had no idea what was going on. Mandy was holding him the first time the little device called his name. Peyton almost hit the ceiling. Then Mandy put the thing on the bed next to Peyton. He was all cautions and started sniffing the thing. I came in to see what was going on and the little thing started talking to me. I don’t really know how it knew I was in the room. That little thing is strange. Mandy uses it a lot and talks to different people. Sometimes I will talk to them too, but very rarely do they talk so loud back. I mean, sometimes Mandy holds me and I talk to the people. I don’t always know how Mandy can talk to them. I mean where are they? I can’t smell them, so I can only guess who Mandy is talking too. I think today she was talking to ajulie. But I couldn’t smell her so I don’t really know.

Well, Mandy has been working around the house this week. I have been a big help. When she slopped that smelly goop on the walls upstairs I stood on the step stool with her. I talked to her and sang with her. When she cleaned the kitchen, I helped too!

Mandy wasn’t really amused. She said I was creating more work for her. But I enjoyed helping. I mean, how can anyone not enjoy my help? Well, I guess I should go. I’m not sure what Mandy has planned for today, so I don’t want to leave her alone and miss out on something exciting!

It is COOL!

It is so nice outside! Mandy opened the windows for us, and we are playing inside and outside this morning! Normally if Mandy opens the windows in the morning it is only for a short time, but today they are still open! It is cool outside, and I am enjoying sitting on the cool cement next to the lush green plants. It is very nice. I think I could get used to this cooler weather. I hope it sticks around!

Yesterday was relaxing too. Although Mandy went all crazy and took everything out of the kitchen cupboards! She washed all the dishes and scrubbed out all of the cupboards. Strange girl! She also sprayed all the windows and wiped them down and pulled Vacuum out! I am not sure what she is up too. I think she is getting ready for something, but I just cannot figure out what.

Well, the wonderful weather is calling my name. I cannot stay stuck up in here when it is so nice outside.
Got to go!

Morning Play Time!!!

This morning was awesome! Sam and Mandy woke up early and left. I’m not sure where they went, because the car didn’t leave. But when they got back, the fun started! They opened the window and Peyton and I played outside! It was awesome! Such a good time! We chased bugs, ran around the big tub, and stalked critters. There were no signs of the evil rabbit. I think I have scared him off. I hope he saw my razor sharp claws and ran away frightened. I am rather intimidating when I want to be. I’m sure he knows this is my house now! Meow!!!

Well, I think Mandy is going to slop goop on the walls again. All the stuff is out--the floor blankets, the brushes. But I don’t mind because she’s upstairs! Peyton and I get to play while she slops that stuff on the walls! Even though it smells I don’t care because I get to play upstairs! She still has the doors closed to the room Peyton wants in, but we get to play upstairs anyway. It sure is fun!

Yesterday Mandy and Sam took a nap. It was fun. They do not normally sleep during the day, and since they napped during my nap time, I curled up next to Mandy’s legs and slept with them. It was very relaxing.

Well, I am going back to my look out to watch for evil creatures. No one can enter my domain, at least when I’m on duty.

Early Morning

Mandy and Sam got up early again this morning. I am not sure why they got up so early, but they were so crabby! When I was trying to use the box, I accidently kicked more little out of the box. Sam and Mandy were both standing there, and yelled at me. It did not bother me, and I kicked some more litter out of the box just to spite them. Then they pushed me into the box. How Rude!!! I was so upset! I mean who are they to push me around?! I could not believe it! I was so upset! I just did my business and got out of there. The whole thing bothers me. But I am not too worried; I will find a way to get even.

Last night, we got to play outside by the big tub! Then Mandy shared her dinner with us! We ate fish! It was yummy! Mandy also made something in a big dish. I do not know what was in the dish, but I do know I got to eat a bite of ham! It was yummy too! Sam told Mandy she spoils us too much. We told Sam that was not true, but it was a losing battle. Sam kept telling Mandy she spoils us. I think she might agree with him. I do not know why they think that. We are not spoiled! Not spoiled at all!

Well, I think maybe I will pounce on Elway while he is not looking!

Big News!!

I finally feel like things might stay normal. So I figured Mandy wasn’t going to magically disappear if I let her get ready for the day. So I sat right outside the room watching for any nasty lizards. Little did I expect that Peyton was waiting for me to let my guard down, so he could tell Mandy off. He kicked litter all over the bathroom. And when I say all over, I do mean all over! The slob had litter from one side of the room to the next. I tried to help clean up, but Mandy said it would be best if she did it herself. She was not happy with Peyton’s mess. Sorry Mandy. I haven’t let my guard down since. Meow.

While Mandy was on the phone she went and sat by the big tub. I went out with her to chase bugs. There aren’t many out there, but I found a little one that flew. I jumped after him, until he flew over the big tub. I almost jumped in the big tub. Oops! Mandy laughed pretty hard. I can understand why, because I few minutes later Peyton almost jumped in too! Meow Meow Meow! It was pretty funny.

We also got to play with our toy too. I’ve been working on my balance. I like to play one the back of the couch so that when I jump I can’t be all wild. I have to be careful. I really feel like it is honing my hunting skills.

Well, something is up. Seriously, up. Mandy has been in and out of the rooms upstairs. She is even moving things around up there. I’m not sure what is going on, but when I figure it out, I’ll let you know.

Lizard on the Loose!

I’m on duty! There was a Lizard on the loose this morning! Mandy says he went outside, but I saw him in the house! I will get him. It is my job to sit and watch for him. Any sign of the nasty critter and I’ll show him whose house this is. I, Elway the hunter, live in this house and will not allow for any nasty critters, evil bunnies, or disgusting frogs to enter into my domain. I have a plan for keeping these repulsive beings out of my life. I guard the perimeter of the house and make sure nothing slips in through the cracks. It is a very tiresome job, and solicits for help goes unanswered. Peyton says it is much more important to nap. He is absolutely no help. Mandy does help some, this morning she shooed Lizard out of the house, but if I would have been doing my job better, she never would have had to bother with that thing. I am here so Mandy does not have to shoo. Meow. Mandy says I’m doing fine, but I hate when I fail and these creatures make it past the threshold.

Well, I’m off to make my rounds again. I will not fail again today.

Normal Days!!!

It is so wonderful to have Mandy and Sam home! I think they are here to stay for a while! Mandy unloaded Suitcase and put them away! I have told her over and over how glad I am she is home. I have stayed with her and cuddled her for hours. I love to sit in her lap and rest my head in her hand. I purr and purr and tell her how much I missed her. Mandy is the only one I will snuggle. Elway is glad she is home too. He stays with her all the time. Mandy can not go anywhere without Elway following. He even takes his nap next to her in the afternoon. And when Mandy is cleaning, he moves with her. He is even sleeping next to Mandy at night. We used to play at night, but now Elway is so sleepy from not napping, that he sleeps at night. I miss our play time. Yesterday Mandy played the noise maker, and Elway slept under it. Normally that is where I sit. He eventually moved to the corner of the room, but he still watched Mandy.

I think Vacuum is going to come out today. Mandy keeps talking about Vacuum and so I am pretty sure he will come out soon. But that will not bother me as long as Mandy stays with us. We have played with Mandy too. Sam plays with us when he is home. But we have slept a lot since Mandy and Sam came home. We did not sleep much while they were gone. It worried me that they did not come home, and so I looked for them as best I could. When I could not find them, I hid in the closet and sulked. Well, I am sleepy and my favorite spot next to the fire place is calling to me. Nap time!

Good News!

Mandy and Sam are home! They came home last night! We were so excited to see them! I hid in the bed until I knew it was them. Other people had come into feed us. They were nice. Not only did they feed us, but they cleaned our boxes. They were really nice to us when we were deserted by Mandy and Sam. But when I figured it really was Mandy and Sam I came running out of the bed! I was so excited! We played with our toys and went outside. They brought home stuff and it all smells so funny. They must have gone to all sorts of strange places and met all sorts of strange animals. I was so glad that Mandy and Sam came home. All night long, I slept on the bed. I would nudge Mandy’s hand and she would pet me. I cuddled up next to her. Sometimes I would go cuddle Sam. It is so good to have my people home! YAY!

I’m going to go play with them!

Sad Plea

Dear Mandy,

Please come home. We miss you. We promise to be nice. Please tell Sam we will be good kitties. We want him to know that we will be nice. Please just come home. We miss you.

Love,

Elway & Peyton
