I haven’t had a chance to write because life has been turned upside down these past several days. Sometime last week—I don’t remember which day—Sam got up, ate breakfast, and fed us before Mandy woke up. Ok folks, red flag. This has never happened before! Sam never feeds us without Mandy being up too. In fact, Sam doesn’t normally feed us. So, after we ate, Peyton and I went to check on Mandy. She was still sleeping! Finally, she woke up and rolled out of bed but she dressed very quickly and then she left with Sam. I’m not sure where Sam took Mandy, but when they came home, she was a mess. She laughed and cried and slumped on the couch. But the worst part was how she looked! She didn’t even look like Mandy anymore. She had this awful white stuff sticking out of her mouth and her lips were big and her cheeks were swollen. She looked awful, and she sounded awful. She kind of scared Peyton and me, so I am glad Sam stayed home with us to take care of Mandy. She ate strange food, but I think more food ended up on her than in her mouth. The next day, Sam stayed home to take care of Mandy again. I’m glad, because she still looked funny. He did leave for a few minutes, which gave Peyton and I time to check on Mandy. During the night we sniffed at her puffy cheeks, but she moaned and we didn’t want to hurt her. She snuggled us, but she looked so bad. We didn’t stay with her for long. We just watched from the sides of the room.
Thankfully, Mandy is starting to look better. I still have no idea what happened to her, but other than some slight discoloring on her face and slightly puffy cheeks, she looks normal. However, she is not eating normal food. Sam is eating normal, but Mandy is eating strange food. For example, normally Sam and Mandy give us breakfast milk, but Mandy hasn’t been eating her normal breakfast, so we’ve only had one bowl of milk to split. I can't wait until we have two bowls of milk again. Sharing is not fun.
I do think Mandy is starting to feel better. I’m glad because this has really upset me. It even upset my tummy, and Mandy says I have to eat soft food today. She says that there will be no crunchies today and hopefully that will make my tummy better.
The good news about everything that happened is that Sam leaves the window open for long amounts of time. He’d open it in the morning for us, and I think he would forget the open window and leave it open for hours. It was great! We played outside for hours!
Well, I am going to sleep on the dining room table because it makes Mandy angry. I like to see her angry with puffy cheeks. She looks like an angry chipmunk. Meow!
