Action-packed Weekend!

It has been such an eventful weekend and I have tons to tell you about! I’ll start with Friday because that’s when all the excitement started. That afternoon, Mandy started moving around all of the furniture. At first, we watched closely, because we thought it signaled that Vacuum was going to come out, but she was moving just about all of the furniture that she could. Sure enough though, Vacuum did eventually come out, and we went into hiding. We hid while Villain desecrated our house. We figured everything would be put back into place when we came out of hiding. However, only more furniture was moved and nothing was in the right place! Mandy didn’t even bother to try to put the stuff back before Sam came home. Once Sam was home there was a huge ruckus! Sam and Mandy are trying to bring something huge and evidently very heavy through the front door, but they were attacked by lizards! Lizards were everywhere and one of them slipped into the house! I watched the attack take place from under the noise maker and I was ready to fight alongside Sam and Mandy to protect my home from those nasty lizards! I was just about ready to attack the lone lizard that made it past Sam and invaded my home, when Sam saw him. Unfortunately, Sam ruined my brave attack and captured the lizard. I don’t understand why Sam and Mandy capture those critters and release them! Let me at him! I’ll make sure he won’t dare enter our home again! Finally, the attack of the lizards was over, and Mandy and Sam brought this huge wooden thing into my house. They moved it by the noise maker, past the TV and into my play area! They set that huge thing right in the center of my play room! Mandy seemed very satisfied with the thing, so I found Peyton and we checked this new thing out.
Mandy says we are not allowed to play with it and we are not allowed to sleep on top of it. What good is it if I can’t sleep on it? It would provide an excellent view of the backyard! I could survey my whole yard from the top of that thing! Perhaps I will take it over when Mandy is not looking.

Well, all of that happened and it’s only Friday night! Wait until you hear about Saturday! Sam and Mandy wake up early, and started working outside! Sam is outside the big tub area doing all sorts of things while Mandy is messing with my plants next to the big tub. She brought in new plants! Peyton helped Mandy while she dug in the dirt and moved things around. Peyton also found a frog that slipped into the big tub area and he helped Mandy chase him out into the yard. Peyton might have tried to eat the frog, but we are not allowed to munch on frogs. It’s one of the three cardinal outside rules. Once Mandy and Sam finished outside, Peyton checked out all of Mandy’s new work.

It does look very nice, but we are not allowed to dig around the plants. Mandy says they are delicate, so we have to leave them alone. Since they are so pretty, we have left them alone for now. We are admiring them from a distance. You can see Sam's big trash bag. He was pulling that thing all over, yanking up nasty weeds.

Sunday and Monday were rather boring days. It rained all day Sunday and we were unable to play outside. Little Turtle came to see us Monday morning, but it was still raining, so Mandy refused to let us outside. Little Turtle waited for us for a long time, but Mandy was firm. She was not letting us play in the rain. Instead I had to create my own fun inside. I set up an obstacle course and practiced running and jumping as fast as I could! I raced under the noise maker, over the couch and around the fireplace. I did this multiple times while Mandy did the dishes. After each lap, Mandy scored me and gave me pointers. We continued this until I was so tired I had to nap.

One exciting thing happened last night though! Just before bedtime, Sam opened the bedroom window! I was so excited! I jumped off the bed and into the window! However, there is a block in the window, just like the one in the kitchen! I couldn’t go outside, but I could feel the breeze and it was wonderful! After I cuddled Mandy to sleep, I sat in the window almost all night! We have never had the window open in the bedroom open all night before and it was amazing! And guess what! All of the cat windows are open this morning!
It’s beautiful outside! It’s so nice that even Mandy worked outside and now she is sitting outside with me! Mandy says eventually it will warm up and we will close the windows, but it is so beautiful right now that we all are spending as much time as possible out here this morning!

Well, I can’t afford to spend any more time telling you about life around here because I have to go enjoy the sun on this glorious Tuesday morning! Hope your day is as fantastic as mine!

Sunrise, Sunset

There was a beautiful sunset last night, and the sunrise this morning was exquisite! I know because I viewed both from outside. After dinner last night, Elway flopped down on the floor and gave Mandy and Sam his best, “I am bored” face and thankfully they received the message. Mandy opened the door and let us outside. We basked in the last few rays of sunshine as it slipped below the horizon lighting up the sky in glorious golden and pink hues. It was delightful. Then this morning, just as the sun greeted the sky with its morning kiss of light, Mandy opened the window for us. We sat along the screen and watched as the shadows faded away and the beautiful colors of the morning spilled across the sky. Elway and I marveled as the world woke up and we said “Good Morning!” to all of the wonders outside of our screen.

Well, I will be lounging by the big tub if you need me.

New Rule: Do Not Play with Scorpions

Well, I did get in trouble for sitting on the dining room table, but it was worth it to see Mandy’s puffy cheeks turn red. Meow! Peyton and I took turns watching Mandy. She was all over the house yesterday, but she gave us a break because she would leave for short periods of time. One time she even came back with a new bag of crunchies! I can’t wait until they are open! Fresh crunchies are the best!

Well, I have big news! Last night Peyton and I found a new creature! We were playing with him, but he had to run into Mandy’s sight, so she figured we had something. She sent Sam to check on us, and all of a sudden, Sam freaked out. He made me drop my capture and sent me to Mandy. Sam’s never acted so concerned so I went to see Mandy. She forced me to open my mouth and looked at my tongue and cheeks. What on earth?! It was very uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Sam proceeds to beat my live toy until it was squished. Sam has always released my live toys outside before; evidently this was not a lizard. Peyton was so startled by Sam’s behavior he hid under the noise maker until Mandy called him and then he went to see her too and even let her check him over. Sam cleaned up the squished remains of what was once our play toy. He said it was a scorpion, and that if we ever see another one, we should not play with it. He wants us to tell him if there are any more scorpions, but we are not supposed to touch them. Mandy was shocked and they proceeded to read about scorpions on the computer. I guess they were surprised to find one here. I don’t really know what they found on the computer, but that little guy was mean. He was long and skinny like a lizard, but he did not taste like one. Sam and Mandy watched me for a long time because I had the evil critter in my mouth. Mandy said scorpions are dangerous, and I believe her. There is a new rule in our house: Do not play with scorpions.

Well, today is sure to be a good day. Sam woke up early—it was still dark. He woke Mandy up and they ate breakfast and he left. We thought he was going to take Mandy with him, but after he left, she went back to bed. What a lazy bum! Anyway, we guarded the house while Mandy slept, and when she woke up, she fed us ham. She’s nice to us! Well, I have to go. Peyton is outside and I am tormenting him through the windows.

Big Happenings

I haven’t had a chance to write because life has been turned upside down these past several days. Sometime last week—I don’t remember which day—Sam got up, ate breakfast, and fed us before Mandy woke up. Ok folks, red flag. This has never happened before! Sam never feeds us without Mandy being up too. In fact, Sam doesn’t normally feed us. So, after we ate, Peyton and I went to check on Mandy. She was still sleeping! Finally, she woke up and rolled out of bed but she dressed very quickly and then she left with Sam. I’m not sure where Sam took Mandy, but when they came home, she was a mess. She laughed and cried and slumped on the couch. But the worst part was how she looked! She didn’t even look like Mandy anymore. She had this awful white stuff sticking out of her mouth and her lips were big and her cheeks were swollen. She looked awful, and she sounded awful. She kind of scared Peyton and me, so I am glad Sam stayed home with us to take care of Mandy. She ate strange food, but I think more food ended up on her than in her mouth. The next day, Sam stayed home to take care of Mandy again. I’m glad, because she still looked funny. He did leave for a few minutes, which gave Peyton and I time to check on Mandy. During the night we sniffed at her puffy cheeks, but she moaned and we didn’t want to hurt her. She snuggled us, but she looked so bad. We didn’t stay with her for long. We just watched from the sides of the room.

Thankfully, Mandy is starting to look better. I still have no idea what happened to her, but other than some slight discoloring on her face and slightly puffy cheeks, she looks normal. However, she is not eating normal food. Sam is eating normal, but Mandy is eating strange food. For example, normally Sam and Mandy give us breakfast milk, but Mandy hasn’t been eating her normal breakfast, so we’ve only had one bowl of milk to split. I can't wait until we have two bowls of milk again. Sharing is not fun.

I do think Mandy is starting to feel better. I’m glad because this has really upset me. It even upset my tummy, and Mandy says I have to eat soft food today. She says that there will be no crunchies today and hopefully that will make my tummy better.

The good news about everything that happened is that Sam leaves the window open for long amounts of time. He’d open it in the morning for us, and I think he would forget the open window and leave it open for hours. It was great! We played outside for hours!

Well, I am going to sleep on the dining room table because it makes Mandy angry. I like to see her angry with puffy cheeks. She looks like an angry chipmunk. Meow!

Lizard Window War

The Lizards have joined forces in order to torment Peyton and me after we killed the interloper last week. You know I enjoy sitting in the front window, and the lizards have discovered that we cannot touch them through the glass, so they scramble across the windows while we are napping. Peyton has been sleeping in the front window too and those Lizards wake us up every day running across our window! They have even discovered that I like to sit in the Bathroom window too—by the way I believe I won the war of the window—and I woke up Mandy the other night trying to attack those Lizards. I can’t do anything to scare them off my windows. Peyton and I even try to attack the Lizards together, and no amount of noise or force can scare the Lizards off our windows! I will discover a way to win this battle with them. They will not take over my windows!

Little Turtle was back today! I am very excited to have a new friend! Mandy came out to see Little Turtle today and he curled up into his shell. I believe he was scared of her! Eventually he came back out and looked at Mandy long and hard and kept marching right along. You know, Mandy says turtles are slow creatures, but that little guy can really move across our yard in a hurry!

Well, I see another Lizard. I will scare him off!

New Friend

We have a new friend! We have not seen Mr. Turtle in months, but today we meet a new turtle! Little Turtle is much smaller than Mr. Turtle, but he told us many wonderful tails about life outside out screened in porch. Unfortunately, Little Turtle has not seen Mr. Turtle, so we hope he's healthy.

This weekend I spent some beyond the screen! I was out front with Mandy and Sam. I was watching Sam dig in the dirt, when Mandy came in and put me in harness. I protested loudly at first, but when Mandy took me outside and let me wander into the bushes I was thrilled! I explored bushes and plants I’ve never been allowed to before! I was even brave enough to venture into the center of the drive way. It was a little unsettling to be out front, so eventually I dragged Mandy to the big tub area and she let me back into safety. As soon as I was out of harness I ran into the house and Mandy followed me by climbing through the window! I guess the doors were locked. She went back out front quickly though and started cutting bushes. She chopped the bushes until they were small! Eventually Sam and Mandy came inside and drank a lot of water.

There are many open windows this morning, and I don’t want to miss any time outside, so I’m going to go see if I can figure out where Little Turtle went.

Beautiful Music

Mandy does not normally leave the TV on during the day, but today she has left it on and beautiful music is echoing though the house. There is a story that goes along with this fun music, and I have enjoyed the stories and music more than I can say. I am sitting close by to enjoy the special treat. I do not really watch the movies, they are in black and white, but I love the music. Occasionally though, I sneak a peek every once in a while because there are pretty people on the screen.

Well, if I write much more I might miss some music.

Outside Playtime!

It is so beautiful outside and Mandy opened the window for us! She has opened it every morning this week, and it is wonderful! Peyton has completely reclaimed his bushes from the rouge spiders and I have found this wonderful corner next to the fish tub that is in the shade. I can enjoy the wonderful breeze and observe my whole yard! It’s fabulous!

Mandy doesn’t leave the window open all day, but she opens it several times though out the day! She even opened it last night and we played outside until it was almost dark. There is only one abnormality to report after spending hours outside. Mandy and Sam have not removed the large ball that floats in the big tub. I first mentioned the ball when Half-Sized was here, but the ball has not left. Mandy and Sam still hit it around when they are in the big tub, but when no one is in the big tub, the giant ball just floats around. Peyton tried to touch it last night, but he pushed it clear across the surface of the big tub. He almost fell in! Meow! Maybe sometime we will get a good look at that giant ball.

Well, Peyton is calling me from outside so I’m going to find out what he wants.

Interloper!

Wild Lizard in the house! I am ashamed to admit his presence because it means I have failed miserably as head of the Protection Detail. Mandy told me that the lizard was making a home in the front closet weeks ago, and I thought she was bonkers. When Mandy started claiming there was a lizard in the closet, she and Sam cleaned everything out and made Vacuum clean his own lair. I cannot believe that Villain let a lizard live in his presence, but alas, he did! Anyway, Elway and I discovered Lizard last night, but we did not tell Mandy and Sam like normal because we were ashamed that Mandy had been right about the lizard. So instead, we tortured the tiny invader. Eventually Mandy realized we were tormenting something, and she insisted Sam check it out. He was shocked when this tiny lizard scrambled under his work bag for safety. Immediately, he tries to separate Elway and me and keep us from our fun. He captured the lizard and took him outside.

After that Elway and I took turns guarding the front door to make sure no other interlopers trespassed into our home. At one point a big lizard climbed up and looked into the front window; he really had a mouthful to say to us, but we stood our ground and refused him entrance into our home unless he wanted to face the same treatment that his baby friend had endured.

First thing this morning, I checked the front door and it appears our defenses have stood through the night. Mandy opened a window in the family room for us, and we are running perimeter checks outside as well. At this moment, it looks as though our domain is intact.

Since it is a quiet morning, I have a moment to tell you how Elway pranked Mandy the other night. Elway always sleeps cuddled up to Mandy. The other night, she contorted into a strange shape and Elway stretched out along side of her with his head on her tummy and his back legs on her arm. Eventually, Mandy lost feeling in her arm, and when she woke up she reached down to pet Elway only to discover feet on her arm. However, there was some confusion on Mandy’s part and I do not think she realized the feet were on her arm. She starts freaking out because she cannot find her arm or some nonsense like that. Sam was sound asleep and Mandy eventually woke him up in her state of panic. I have been a bystander as my people partake in ridiculous scenes, but this was the most ludicrous moment I have ever observed! I guess Mandy did not have any feeling in her arm so she did not realize that the strange appendage flopping around on the bed belonged to her or that the fuzzy cat feet belong to Elway! Eventually Mandy calmed down, and laughed, but Elway was so startled that he looked at Mandy with the biggest eyes I have ever seen on a cat! It was the best joke ever and Elway did not even mean to scare Mandy. When she calmed down Elway sniffed her arm, and tried to assure her that everything was satisfactory.

Well, I have to check the perimeter again while the windows are open. There is some small bug that keeps biting Mandy when she is outside. I have to make sure that none of those villains break past my defenses into the big tub area.

My Fort

Tonight I am writing from the comfort of my very own fort! I built the fort and it is tons of fun. Don’t believe me? Then you’re crazy. I really did build my fort! Mandy tossed an extra pillow on the cat couch and I moved it into just the right spot, and then I snuggled in between all three pillows. Mandy tossed my blanket on top and it is the perfect fort!

Don’t really believe I’m in there? See my little white face? Here’s a close up.

For a while I hid from a giant tiger that was roaming outside my fort, but eventually Peyton tired from playing and I thought I would show you my incredibly cool fort! I bet you all wish you had a cool fort to play in too! I think Mandy is kind of jealous of my hideout because every once in a while she sticks her head in and we talk for a bit. I don’t mind when she slips in my fort because she scratches me behind my ear, but I do like my fort to myself. Although if Peyton was ready to play again, I’d slip out and pounce on him to get the surprise! I’d better watch for just the right time!

Rough Life

Life is rough—there really is no other way to sum up the meaning of life in three words. Mandy is so moody. I mean yesterday I thought everything was going fine, and then suddenly Elway offends Mandy and she ignores us for hours!!! I guess it was not all Elway’s fault, but he sure started the whole mess. I do not even know what really took place other than Elway started running, so I took off too. Mandy was upset that we ran from her because I guess she was trying to be sweet and give us treats or something. After we ran, she left us alone and ignored us for hours! Our dinner was late too! Mandy said she would not feed us until we apologized for running. We never apologized, but eventually Mandy fed us just before her dinner was ready. When we asked for a bite of her dinner she refused us! While she was ignoring us she put on this awful music! I normally enjoy music a great deal, but this awful stuff Mandy turned on made me run for the bedroom. Elway likes music that is upbeat, but I prefer more classical music. I hid until she turned on something relaxing just before Sam came home.

Speaking of music, Mandy put on a musical story for me the other day. I listened intently about this boy named Peter and his story. It was a pretty great story because it had a cat! The cat was on a great hunt, but his bird was scared off! What an awful story! Once the cat was told off by the duck, I left. What an awful story. I did not even care to find out what happened to Peter! The poor cat! I will never listen to that awful story again!

Well, today is nice and sunny. Mandy has been leaving a window open for us when she goes into the big tub and I am hoping she will go out again today. I love open windows!
