This weekend was action packed. Mandy and Sam stayed busy for most all of it, and Peyton and I had to keep up. On Friday, Mandy and Sam left early in the morning, only to return home for a little bit so Mandy could nap for a short time. Then they played all afternoon doing silly people things—nothing fun or exciting like chasing Red Lightening Bug. On Saturday, Mandy and Sam woke up and enjoyed a relaxing morning before running some errands. When they came home, they worked some upstairs until some very noisy men came and started bringing stuff in the house. Peyton and I hid in the bedroom while these men worked upstairs. After they left, Mandy invited us to come upstairs, but then Sam pulled the evil mini-villain out and let him go to work on the stairs. Peyton and I retreated back into hiding and waited for Mandy to come rescue us. When she did, Sam chased us upstairs so we could see what all the commotion was about and all we saw was a new piece of furniture up there. Big deal. That night Peyton and I had to burn off some extra energy after being hidden away all day, so we chased each other around the house for almost an hour—and that’s when we made the big mess.
It happened so quickly, that I’m not entirely sure what happened. We were racing in or out of the bedroom, I don’t remember, but one of us, or maybe both of us, jumped up on the old radio and knocked all of the sea shells off. Mandy kept a huge dish full of sea shells on top of the radio. We knocked it off and broke several shells. It made a huge and terrible noise, and Peyton and I scattered in opposite directions. Mandy hunted us both down, and checked us over to make sure we were not hurt. Sam worked on cleaning up the shells, and Mandy joined in after she checked us over. Then they pulled out the Villain and sucked up all the little bitty pieces of sea shells.
Peyton was terribly upset about the whole incident, but Mandy made sure he calmed down before we went to bed. It took him a long time to relax. Mandy had to sing to him, and tell him it was ok. She really wasn’t upset about the sea shells. We felt awful, and have apologized profusely, but she says not to play up there again, and all will be fine.
Yesterday night, Sam and Mandy went into the bedroom, and we thought it was an early bedtime. Instead, they dressed for the big tub, and opened the window! It was dark outside and we all went outside and played in the dark! There were nighttime bugs all over the place, and Peyton and I were on high alert. Sam didn’t feel so great, so he went in and left Mandy to swim laps. He was working on something for the fishes, and we opted to guard Mandy. Then those two crazy kids decided it was bedtime. I don’t think they went to bed later than normal; it was just such an unexpected twist in events to enjoy a playtime in the dark!
This morning we tried to snuggle Sam into submission and convince him to stay home with us. However, he is not as easily persuaded as Mandy. Peyton even told Mandy that he wanted Sam to stay home, but Mandy could not talk Sam into staying home. So, I hope he does ok at work today. He was so tired this morning that we thought it would do him good to stay home and sleep. All well.
I’m off to sleep some. It was a busy weekend.
