I was peacefully dozing on the cat-couch yesterday when Mandy walked by
holding Stella. She had just finished eating and Mandy was just walking around
with her when they sat down on the cat-couch with me. I lazily rolled over to
look at Mandy to see what she had in mind with that little person in her arms.
Stella was all eyes and she was staring at me. Very slowly Mandy leaned Stella
closer to me, and Stella reached her arms out toward me. She grabbed my fur and
just held it. Mandy told her to be gentle and watched her carefully. I rolled
over onto my back so my tummy was up, and Stella reached for my tummy. Mandy used
extra precautions to make sure Stella was gentle as she reached for my tummy. I
let that little person rub my tummy. She really did not rub so much as grab a
hold of my fur and squawk at me, but I felt as though I preformed a kind act—I tolerated
her touches for Mandy’s sake. After a while, Stella started getting a little too
excited for my taste and Mandy took her into the other room so I could finish
my nap. Then Mandy brought me some treats and told me I was a kind and loving
cat. Sometimes a good deed does go unpunished.
