Tonight was a first. I went out and painted the town red! Sam, Mandy
and Stella took off with Bomom and Bonedad (who, by the way, are in town) and
left us all alone in the house. Fortunately for Elway and me, the front door
was not closed tight and it blew open while everyone was gone. Elway came and
told me the good news and we cautiously crept out the front door into the wild
blue yonder! We boldly went were no house cat has gone before—out the front
door! Elway was a whimp and would not venture far into the world beyond our
front door. He stayed close by the house, so when Mandy and Sam drove up he
scurried into the house like a ‘fraidy cat.
Mandy and Sam jumped out of the car and dashed into the house to make
sure everything was in place. Elway told me they tore the house apart looking
for me, but I was busy exploring the wide world beyond the house! I ventured
into the neighbors yard and saw all kinds of bugs, frogs and lizards. Sam,
Mandy, Bonedad and Stella all looked for me outside, but I was too busy to
bother acknowledging their cries. Stella was the most pathetic of my pursuers.
She called after me, and then started crying—loudly. Mandy had to take her in the
house to calm her down. Listening to her
almost made me feel guilty for hiding out—almost but not quite.
Anyway, at one point Sam jumped in the car and drove around. I am
unsure what he expected to see, other than the strange animals in the neighbor’s
yard. They were a little bigger than me, but these strange looking animals wore
masks. I am unsure why such strange looking bandits would need masks, but they
were not friendly. I did not engage in making first contact, but rather left
them to continue on without interference. Sam and Mandy said that was the best
course of action.
After a while I started to feel guilty that everyone was continuing to
look for me and I figured it was time to return home. I casually walked home
and Sam chased me into the house. Stella cheered for me, clapping and waving to
welcome me home. She almost warmed my heart—almost but not quite.
Anyway, that was my big night out. Since arriving back home, Sam and
Mandy have put flea and tick medicine on both Elway and me and the front door
is closed and locked. I would venture to guess that we will not be making
another trip into the world for a while.
Elway seems to think we have had enough adventures in the house. We
have had several rounds of company since our last post—which was a long time
ago. Ajulie visited. She and Mandy played like children. Those girls giggle and
whisper like children and scream almost as loudly as Stella. Ajulie did love on
us and it was partially acceptable. She kept Mandy busy and I guess they had
fun because they were not here very much.
Oma was here as well. Tim was not with her this time and we spent some
time with her. She was rather kind about giving us space when we wanted it and
petting that hard to reach spot when we wanted her too.
Well, I guess that pretty much wraps up the excitement of today.
