Mandy and Sam left us. On Friday they just packed up and left; it happened very quickly. Peyton and I were not expecting to be left alone for the weekend, but we did actually enjoy the time alone. They left us with free reign of the house, and it was delightful. I was able to sit in the bathroom window without anyone stopping me. I am not sure where Mandy and Sam went, but when they came home yesterday, I was pleased to see them. However, I made sure they were unaware of my pleasure. Both Peyton and I were very distant until bedtime, and then we cuddled them and let them know we had missed them. It is just not as fun to sleep without them because they are snuggly and warm.
This morning Mr. Turtle came back to visit us! We have not seen him since last fall! He had many stories to tell us and warned us of a new enemy…Squirrel. Mr. Turtle had not been gone long when Squirrel showed his ugly face and jumped on my screen. I saw him when I was inside with Mandy. I went sprinting through the open window and across the back patio where I also took a flying leap to latch onto the screen to scare him off. Mandy came running out of the house; apparently I should not try to climb the screen like Squirrel. She scared Squirrel off, and our screen is safe from Squirrel for now--but I am watching closely. I will protect my space and Mandy from that scoundrel Squirrel.
I need to patrol some more.
