It’s been a regular animal farm around here this weekend. I tried to blog about it earlier, but I ran into come complex computer problems, and it took Mandy a little while to work through them. However today, everything is up and running so I can tell you about the wild animals running rampant in and around our house.
I’ll start with the Lion, because he disturbed my house the most recently. Yesterday, I was napping the in the sun comfortably in my new case when the Evil Villain roared to life. I have discovered that he has a strict regiment he follows each time he disrupts my peaceful home. He always starts in the bedroom, moves into the hallway, under the noise maker, around the big table, and into the TV room. If I stay in my new case while Vacuum eats the rest of the house, when he thunders into the final room, Mandy turns him off. Yesterday she picked me up and carried my past the Villain, but she stopped so I could look at him first. Do you know what?! There is a Lion on the front of Villain! That would be why he roars so much I guess. I have recently come to an understanding the Villain who bears a Lion. I won’t bother him, if he leaves me alone. So far, it’s a fair understanding and we have both agreed to these terms.
So not only have I had a run in with a Lion, but with a Snake! Saturday morning, I woke up and looked out the kitchen window and do you know what was out there?! Well, I already told you…a snake! I had never seen such a creature. He slithered on his belly because he didn’t have any appendages. He was slow and creepy. His long tongue quickly slipped out of his mouth and did a little dance in front of his face as he slithered along the window frame. I watched him, and guarded the window making sure he could not make it into the house. He was a sneaky little fellow, he even tried to crawl up the side of the window but he didn’t make it very far before he fell down. I laughed at his futile attempt to penetrate my lair. Eventually he gave up and crawled back into the bushes. I have checked the window often since the snake sighting, but I haven’t seen the creature since. I believe he understand that I am far bigger and braver than he is, and he better not try to enter my home.
So, a Lion and a Snake disrupted my life this weekend, but there was one more animal. Sunday afternoon Mandy and Sam were eating their Sunday dinner outside when something flew into the screen. I ran over to see what it was because it didn’t leave after it hit the screen. Well, it was very high up and I couldn’t reach it. I tried to climb the screen to help the creature because I could tell it was stuck. I could not reach the little animal though, so I called for Sam and Mandy. They came over and said it was a hummingbird and she was stuck! Her nose had come through the screen and she couldn’t wiggle free. Sam and Mandy called Shrimp Dad for advice and then ran in the house. Sam came back out wearing long sleeves and thick gloves and caring a step ladder. He went outside and tried to help the hummingbird wiggle free. She was very stressed out by now, and was flapping her wings wildly trying to gain her freedom. Sam was able to help her wiggle free and she flew away quickly. Superman Sam saved the day!
So, Lions, Snakes and Hummingbirds! Oh my! What a weekend!
