This morning there was a big chase around the house. Guess who was being chased? Me! Sam was leaving for work and Mandy was holding the front door open briefly to say good bye when a sneaky little intruder scurried into my domain! I pounced on that lizard so fast, Mandy had no idea what was in the house! I took off into the family room to commence corporal punishment. All intruders are instantly guilty and the punishment is death! (Peyton disagrees, and would rather play with our visitors, but I remind him they are interlopers not friends!)
Mandy called for Sam and then she came running after me—I say running, but Mandy doesn’t really run anymore. It’s a rather humorous trot while she holds her ever expanding belly. Sam came in the house and a full out chase had begun! At first Peyton stayed with me as my wing man, or as a possible ploy to rescue the trespasser, but eventually he deserted me. Anyway, since I was not going to be allowed to give the lizard a proper death, I scooped him up in my mouth and started munching—death by fangs would have to suffice. Mandy was coming up behind me and Sam was towering in front of me—this is when Peyton deserted me. He plopped down in the family room and watched the events unfold. I carefully observed my exit paths and quickly slithered past Sam and raced into the bedroom. He came barreling up behind me, so I dove under the bed. Mandy can’t crawl under the bed anymore, so I knew I would have a little time to execute my prisoner.
Sam started army crawling under the bed and eventually I had to abandon my post. I tried to hide in the window, however Mandy saw me and she pulled the curtains back. I bolted past her back into the family room. Unfortunately, I started gagging on the lizard and was forced to abandon him. Mandy finally caught me, and Sam scooped up the now dead intruder.
It was a fun morning event for me. Watching Mandy trot around the house was hilarious, and it was a entertaining start to the day!
The windows have been open for several days now, and it is glorious! Sam has been cutting the palm tree leaves, and I believe that is why there are so many lizards and frogs trying to invade our house. Their homes are being cut down, and they are interested in revenge. We have been on full alert keeping these critters out of our home. May this be a warning to all invaders--trespassing is punishable by death.
Well, I think I’ll chase Peyton down and let him know what I think about his abandonment in this morning’s chase.
