I was able to force Mandy and Sam into making a new outside rule—and this rule was created solely because of me!
Last night, Mandy asked Sam to do something outback in the dark. I came running into the family room as soon as I heard Sam unlock the door and asked as nicely as possible if I could join him outside. Mandy said it was a bad idea, but I gave Sam my best “Please?! I promise to be a good kitty!” look. “Meow, Sam Meow!” Sam overruled Mandy’s ‘No’, and let me outside in the dark! He said he would bring me back in.
After a few minutes, Mandy joined us outside. She must have been checking up on us, but Sam said it was time to go inside. He tried to get me to come in the house. Guess what I did? I ran from him. Meow!! Mandy joined in on the chase, but I am speedy and stealth-like. However, at this time Elway joined us outside and Mandy was less than amused by Sam’s decision to let us outside in the dark.
After a few minutes, Mandy gave up on me, since Sam promised he would bring me inside and she started to bring Elway inside. I ran to the corner by the grill, and guess what I found?! A Lizard! I grabbed that lizard in my mouth and made a beeline for the house! However, that wiggly little critter was not cooperative and I had to drop him before I made it in the house. Sam knew I had something and called to Mandy. They tried to stop me before I made it inside, but I was quicker than them. (Have I mentioned that Mandy no longer runs or dives after us?) As soon as I was in the house, I ran through the family room, under the piano and into the bedroom! However, by the time I made it to the bedroom, the lizard made me gag and I had to drop him just before I crossed the threshold. Mandy actually did dive after me at this point, and I was forced to abandon the lizard!
Sam came running up behind Mandy and captured the lizard while Mandy kept me away from my prey. Once Sam captured the lizard, my play thing was gone! Sam took him back outside and said I was not allowed outside after dark ever again. Meow.
Mandy made sure the lizards tail was not in my mouth and I fussed at her for ruining my play thing. She was upset that I brought the lizard in the house. She said it is my job to keep the invaders out, not bring them in the house!
So, do you remember the three rules of outside play?
1. No fishing
2. No frog chomping
3. No bug munching
Well can you guess rule number four?
4. No lizard snatching
All well, it sure made for a memorable evening, and now there is a rule in place because of me! All of the other rules were put in place because of Elway, and now I have assisted in the creation of our list of outside rules!
