Normal Everyday Life

Life goes on just like normal this week. Mandy has not pulled any stunts so this week has progressed without anything worthwhile to report. Our outside patrol is non-existent, much to Mandy’s dismay. She has tried to coax us outside, but without much success. Last night we fell for the open door trick, but as soon as we were outside Mandy closed the door while she cooked dinner. Peyton cried until Mandy was afraid the neighbors would hear and she let us in.

Earlier this week, Sam cooked a new fish outside. Once it was finished I sat right next to Mandy with my front paws on her leg begging to try a bite. Eventually she gave me a taste and that fish was delicious! She said it was called swordfish. What a funny name for a fish! Meow!

I was discovered in the bathroom window this morning. Mandy found me and was dismayed by my location. I have a feeling that the War of the Window might start up again. I’ll keep you posted if it does start up again.

Return of the Forbidden Blogger

Elway finally agreed to let me communicate to the outside world again! I cannot attest to the fact that life is better, but I will not vocalize a tirade and mortify my brother. Well, for today anyway.

This morning Mandy told Elway and me that we had fallen down on our outside protection detail. She reminded us that when we were kittens, we would protect her from bugs not just inside, but outside. I hate to be a fault in anything, but Mandy is right. We refuse to go out when she is in the bug tub in the mornings. Elway blames the heat; I am not going to blame anything other than just not wanting to work for Mandy. However, I did feel a little guilty for allowing Mandy to be unprotected outside. She does feed me after all. I almost went outside with her today, but Elway refused, and I did not want to work alone. Just as she closed the door, Mandy told us to enjoy our break. That was the final straw. What manipulation Mandy! As she was diving into the big tub, both Elway and I ran to the window to beg to be let out. However, Mandy did not leave the big tub until she was ready to come inside. I tried to patrol for intruders from our windows. Elway and I stalked back and forth, however, we could not have protected Mandy if there were any bugs. If she would just open the windows for us, we would happily watch for bugs. But as it is, if we go outside, we are stuck there until I can either open the door, or Mandy is finished in the big tub. Perhaps tomorrow we will try to regain Mandy’s faith in our outdoor patrols. Perhaps. Meow.

This afternoon, I was napping next to Mandy when that awful small talking devise went off. It was the pretty piano song, which means it was ajulie who disturbed my nap. Mandy was thrilled that the machine made noise. They talked for a while, and just when they hung up, Mandy sat down on the floor next to me, and pulled me close. She scratched my head, and I loved it! I sat there and allowed her to admire me for quite some time and then she abruptly stood up and left me! I was enjoying the attention, and then suddenly she is gone! Meow. You would think she would want to love me when I actually allow it.

Well, I am going to try to get a quick nap before dinner.

Understanding Peyton

Perhaps I was too harsh to forbid Peyton from blogging his complaints about his treatment. Yesterday I received some of the treatment that he often complains of receiving. It started a few days ago, when Mandy came in and put three items on the floor for us to check out. The first was new crunchies! The second was a box of breakfast and dinner items! And the third, meow, the third was a small box with our bug medicine. Mandy says it is a preventive measure so that we don’t acquire bugs on our skin. Every several weeks Mandy forces us to sit in her lap while she or Sam squish this cold liquid on the back of our heads. It’s awful treatment. I hate it.

So anyway, to get back to my story, yesterday morning, Mandy has Sam close the bathroom door after she served us crunchies, which immediately gave both Peyton and I a raised sense of alertness. We continued to eat our crunchies for a while, but eventually knew it was useless to ignore Mandy much longer. Peyton opted for the run-and-hide method by dashing to the closet. I tried the do-anything-to-get-out-of-here method. Neither worked. Mandy picked me up, only to discover that my back paw was covered in wet litter. I know that is gross, but I was fully planning on cleaning my paw myself. Well, Mandy doesn’t want me to walk on her carpet, so Sam starts working on cleaning my paw with a wet cloth. He did a horrific job, and still left some for me to clean myself. I fussed and cried and wiggled trying to break free, but it was of no use. Mandy was gentle, but she made me stay in her lap while Sam cleaned my paw and tried to put that cold liquid medicine on my neck. I eventually broke free, and Mandy picked me up again, so Sam could get the liquid on my neck. It was very cold, so I jumped free as soon as I felt the coldness on my neck. Eventually I was allowed to go free, and I ran as far away as I could! I sat in a dark corner, cleaning the paw that Sam totally messed up! Peyton was next turn, and I could hear his displeasure from my hiding spot.

When the awful treatment had ceased, Mandy tried to make up to us, by suddenly being sweet again. We did not fall for her tricks. However, when she broke out the treat bag to reward us for our good behavior while we took our medicine, I immediately forgave her for this oversight in her judgment. I almost didn’t say anything in the blog, but then I thought it would only be fair to acknowledge that Peyton might not be so off the mark in his complaints. However, Mandy does not take any pleasure from it. She was crushed when we wouldn’t forgive her, and so I did finally forgive her because she gave me treats. She then petted me and loved me. It was very sweet. Peyton would not forgive Mandy. He is very stubborn. I urged him to let it go, and when Mandy and left for the afternoon, he was soon remorse that he had not made up to Mandy.

When they returned home, Sam brought us more litter and crunchies, while Mandy brought in good Sunday dinners! Mandy said they finally found our good Sunday dinners again! I can’t wait for Sunday! MEOW!!! They must have hit a good cat sale, because we are set for a while now. I like to know that there is plenty of food in the house. I am careful to watch the magic cupboard to make sure we have food and now we are filled to the brim now! Next time I see a nasty squirrel, I will brag that my food is in far better supply than his food!

Well, I am off to watch the world through the front window. I do believe Mandy and Sam are going to work out there today.

Bribery

Mandy knows my weak spot…cat treats! She is trying to encourage Peyton to come when she calls, but he refuses. I don’t mind that Peyton refuses to acknowledge Mandy because I get his treat! The only flaw in Mandy’s plan is that she wakes me up during nap time…every day! She seems to think we should sleep in the family room, or help her move around the house like we used too. She says she likes our company, and wakes us up regularly. I always appease Mandy by coming out for my treat when she calls, and I follow her around for a few minutes to please her. She will occasionally express her gratitude with an extra treat.

Last night Peyton was tremendously friendly, which surprised Sam and Mandy. He hung out on the cat couch while Mandy and Sam ate dinner, played, and made sweet smelling balls of dough in the kitchen. While the sweet scents were wafting from the kitchen, I joined Peyton and we stayed with Sam and Mandy until Red Lightening Bug made his nightly appearance. We chased him all over the house and practiced our jumping when he climbed the walls. When Red Lightening Bug flickered out from exhaustion, Peyton and I collapsed in front of the fire place to catch our breath. After a few moments of reprieve, Red Lightening Bug flicked on and off for the next hour. We kept a keen watch-out for the Bug because we never knew when he would appear.

Well, I’m going to go watch out the window.

Solo-Ride

I have spent several long, relaxing hours lounging and sleeping all over the house. Vacuum woke up early this morning, and I hid in the Kitchen part of the time, then I ran to the bedroom when Vacuum finished in there. I am too tired after an eventful weekend to care about Vacuum today, but someday I will take my vengeance on that loathsome creature.

On Saturday, Sam and Mandy left us alone most all day. Peyton and I played all over the house, and it was fun. However, Mandy and Sam arrived home late causing dinner to later than Peyton would have liked or demanded. But Mandy and Sam seemed like they had fun away from the house, and they don’t get out much, so I wouldn’t spoil their time away by fussing at them upon their arrival home. After dinner, Mandy picked me up and took me to the car. Peyton refused to come, so I went for a ride all by myself. I tried to hide in the back of the car since I was alone, but Mandy picked me up and made me sit in her lap while Sam drove. I watched as houses and cars raced by at a rapid pace. Sam took us to a place where several cars sat in rows. I watched as people walk passed by our car. I was glad that Mandy stayed in the car with me, while Sam left and went someplace I couldn’t see. No one seemed to notice me, but I was still glad when Sam came back, and took us home. Peyton greeted me at the front door, and I told him about my adventure! He would never admit it, but I think he was a little disappointed to be left home. Guess she shouldn’t have run from the offer.

Last night, just before dark, Mandy opened a window for me! Sam and Mandy jumped in the bug tub and swam back and forth. I enjoyed jumping in and out of the window while they splashed around. It made for a wonderful evening!

Well, I’m back to nap some more.

Lazy Fridays

Today was wonderfully lazy. Sam and Mandy woke up at their normal work time schedule, but Sam stayed home today! He went outside to cut down the grass and Mandy eventually joined him to pull weeds. I watched from the comfort of my window, and it was fun to watch Mandy jump and stifle squeals at the large spiders. I guess one was pretty big, because I could see it move, and Mandy came inside pretty quick. I inspected all of her clothes, and assured her that no other spiders were on her clothing. She went back outside and finished working. Mandy came in first, and Sam followed her in a short while later. When Sam came in, he drank a lot of water, and his face was all red. Mandy gets hot outside when she works, but Peyton and I were careful to watch Sam because he was so hot. After he drank a ton of water, and sat for a while, he seemed to improve. Crazy people working like that outside! You’d think they would figure out why I like to stay inside when it is so hot out there. All well.

Sam left his afternoon, and when he came home his hairs were shorter, and he brought Mandy beautiful flowers. I love flowers. They are soft, delicate, and delicious! I have spent the last hour smelling the beautiful blooms!

I have forbidden Peyton from blogging until his outlook on life improves. I don’t know why he enjoys using our blog as a soap box for his complaints. We have a wonderful and easy life, and I for one, enjoy it.

It’s dinner time and I think I should remind Mandy nicely before Peyton makes more noxious demands.

Forced Outside

The treatment we receive in this household is ridiculous! Just this morning, Elway and I were snatched up against our will, and tossed into the wilderness of our backyard. Mandy soon followed us outside and when Elway tried to scamper past her back into the house, she promptly closed the door on his nose, locking him out. She proceeded to dive in the big tub, and splash back and forth. Elway and I told her of our displeasure of being forced outside. She disregarded our demands to return inside and continued to splash around in the big tub. I tried opening the door, which is normally quite easy, but today, the door would not budge. Eventually, we started screaming. We planned to alert the friends, family, neighbors, even Scotland Yard if they would respond to our screaming and howling—we yelled as vociferously as possible. Finally, after Elway and I were utterly exhausted from our lamentation Mandy came to her senses, and emerged from the big tub. When we came inside, both Elway and I collapsed into a deep sleep. I remained there until Mandy ate lunch. She has a habit of eating this thick white substance she calls yogurt, and I find it utterly delectable. Now that lunch is over, and my belly is full, I am off to nap.

Locked Out!!!

Last Night was beautiful! It cooled off outside and when Mandy went to feed the fish Peyton slipped out too. I casually stood in the doorway until Mandy came back inside and then she pushed me out. It was beautiful and I enjoyed my time outside. After a few minutes of being outside together, Peyton pushed his way back inside by opening the door. I stayed outside because it had been a long time since I had enjoyed the backyard. Peyton eventually convinced Sam to let him back outside, but again he didn’t stay outside long. He pushed the door back open and ran back inside. Sam closed the door, and I stayed hidden outside. I was able to hide in the dark, chase bugs, and run around the pool unnoiced! It was a few hours later when Mandy started looking for me. She called me, but I refused to answer; I was enjoying my time outside, and I was not yet ready to return to the indoors. Eventually, Mandy asked Sam to join in the hunt to find me, and Sam cam outside, and found me. He picked me up and apologized for locking me outdoors. I made sure to make him feel incredibly guilty for locking me outside. When he put me down, Mandy picked me up and I proceeded to make her feel super guilty for forgetting about me outside. I don’t know what was more enjoyable—playing outside or playing with Sam’s and Mandy’s emotions. It was a wonderful evening!

Promptness is like Perfection

Around here Promptness is nigh unto Perfection—it is impossible to achieve. Not only was dinner tardy last night but breakfast was belated as well. What does a cat have to do in order to maintain a respectable and timely feeding schedule? Early yesterday afternoon Mandy and Sam left and were late in their return home. It was almost an hour past dinner time upon their arrival. Elway is so forgiving because Mandy cooked their dinner and they ate dinner after us. Then this morning, the two lazy people sleep in like they have nothing to achieve today! I know it is Saturday, but they just ignore their responsibility to feed me, and sleep half the day away!

Then suddenly this afternoon, Mandy rips me out of my napping spot and says it is time to wake up. Just because she slept half the day away does not mean I am in any condition to parade my beautiful face for her enjoyment. Let me sleep!

Although Mandy never apologized for her lack of alacrity in serving my meals, I believe she acknowledged her apathy by allowing Red Lightening Bug to play for over an hour this morning. I was able to run and jump and pounce until my lungs were fatigued. Elway also enjoyed the entertainment and joined in the amusement.

Well, I believe I can slink back to my nap-time hideout and complete my afternoon beauty rest.

Quiet Day

The Half-Sized Human and his parents left this morning. When I came out for breakfast, all of their stuff was down stairs. I carefully inspected everything, and let Peyton eat all of the breakfast. Sam stayed home until they were gone, and then he went to work. So it’s just the three of us—Peyton, Mandy, and me—left at home. It is very quiet, and I am napping outside of the bedroom because I can. The visitors were nice though. The Half-Sized Human would run around the fireplace, and I would chase him. He also fed me food in the kitchen; he was good for hand-outs.

Since things are quite around the house, Mandy is working all over for short periods, and resting. I actually think she might be resting more than working, but I am napping more than playing.

It’s raining outside, and it’s a good day to sleep—so I’m off for another nap.

Sea Monkeys

The Half-Sized Human and his parents are still here. I have adjusted to their presence, and while I don’t allow them to pet me much, I join in on the festivities. For example, Mandy cooked shrimp for dinner last night. You better believe I was part of the dinner group. I was able to eat my fill of shrimp, although I wouldn’t take any from the Half-Sized Human’s dad. The Half-Sized one is really good for dropping little bites on the floor for me. I don’t think he even intends to feed me, which means I can eat them unnoticed by him. Mandy sometimes gives me an evil eye. Although I don’t know why it would upset her that I'm the food, I mean when she swept this morning I had already cleaned up everything edible.

Mandy, Sam and the guests have spent a lot of time in the big tub. Even when it is raining outside, Half-Sized wants to go out and splash around in the big tub. They have bought new toys for the big tub. One of them allows the people to float around the big tub, while the other one is a huge ball! It is the biggest ball I have ever seen and the people hit this ball all over! The ball must not weigh much because it kind of floats through the air. I watch from the safety of the window, but a few times the ball has set a collision course for my seating area and I have to duck for safety reasons. Mandy and Sam seem to enjoy this game and all of the people laugh and talk loudly while they play. I think they look like Sea Monkeys splashing around the big tub. It is fun to watch.

Peyton is still being rather snobbish. Mandy forces him to come out for dinner, and he does stay and eat. Only at night, close to bed time, does Peyton venture out of the bedroom on his own accord. Even then his bed-time reminder is ignored. The guests like to play games. Some of these games are loud and take of the entire kitchen table while other games cause the people to think quietly. Peyton will join us for the quite games at night, or while the people are watching a movie.

The guests brought a blanket with them and it has the strangest looking animals on it. Both Peyton and I had to venture close to the Half-Sized Human to see the animals. They were very small, but they were the strangest looking creatures. They have four legs, a head and a tail, but they have horns on their back! I guess you would call them horns; they were more like plates that stand up on the animals backs. What kind of strange creatures could those be?

Well, I hear the guests, they must be coming down stairs.
