Absent People

Yesterday afternoon, when I slipped back into hiding, I must have hurt Mandy’s feelings because she left us. It was unusual for her to leave in the manner she did. She woke up from a nap, and quickly left the house. She mentioned something about going out with Sam, and that she would be home soon. Well, soon turned into hours and when she finally came back home we were well past worried. We greeted Mandy at the door to make sure everything was fine, and to let her know that it was way past dinner time!

Before Mandy did anything else, she fed us dinner. She apologized profusely for such a late dinner, and not only did she feed us a special can of food, she gave us some treats. Sam loved us too when he came home a few minutes after Mandy. We quickly forgave them since they were so seemingly sincerely sorry for the tardy meal.

This morning our people exhibited more unusual behavior. They woke up in the middle of the night and talked. They do this upon occasion, but it is always unusual. They did not talk about anything important—the weather, strange dreams, food, and seemingly unimportant topics. Eventually they went back to sleep, and slept until morning. However, Mandy dressed with Sam this morning and they left together! They were laughing and happy when they left, but Mandy normally only leaves with Sam on his days off. They were not gone a long time, so I am unsure where they could have gone. However, Mandy did bring back one of those cups of smelly brown liquid that she drinks. She has not been drinking that stuff lately, so I was surprised that she drank it today. However, she seemed in good spirits and has talked to several people on the phone and cleaned house today. We have stayed close to Mandy, but everything seems fine and everyone is happy. It is just unusual behavior for our people in the middle of the week. They do not normally break schedule and when they do, we are always surprised.

Mandy says this weekend is a long weekend. We are looking forward to spending time with our people. We have big plans for them, and I hope they follow our plans rather than their own. We would like to spend as much time as possible outside, so I hope they splash around in the big tub. I also hope the weather is nice. It has been slightly rainy, which Mandy likes -- she always sleeps when it rains. However, the rain has been coming when it is time for Mandy and Sam to splash around, so we have been unable to play outside.
